Bon Jovi Tour – Live From the Xcel Energy Center

bon jovi tour

Bon Jovi has been touring since the ’80s and they’re still going strong. They’re a legendary band with 130 million albums sold to date. The band has a unique ability to connect with fans and it shows at their live performances. They bring back a time of big hair and neon t-shirts with hits like “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “Wanted Dead or Alive.” The band has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and they’re still going strong today with new generations of fans following in their footsteps.

BonJovi is currently on the road in support of their album 2020. Released in October of its namesake year, the politically minded record featured songs inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter protests and mass shootings. The tour also marks the first time Phil X and bassist Hugh McDonald have joined the band as official members.

Sunday night’s show at the Xcel Energy Center was a classic Bon Jovi concert complete with all of the standard elements fans have come to expect. There were no pyrotechnics or other stage enhancements and the whole night felt more like a concert than an arena-size production. The only downer was the fact that Jon Bon Jovi missed a lot of notes. He’s never been the most technically skilled singer but he was off tonight and it was noticeable.

The rest of the band was on point though. Lead guitarist Phil X did a great job filling in for Richie Sambora and his playing kept things interesting throughout the two-hour set. Drummer Everett Bradley was a monster behind the kit and keyboardist David Bryan’s piano/keyboard dual-role was just plain cool. And let’s not forget about Jon Bon Jovi himself, he’s an excellent showman and he’s still got that Hollywood smile that makes him instantly recognizable to millions of fans.

Despite the one-off problems with Jon’s vocals, the overall performance was strong and it proved that arena rock is alive and well. Bon Jovi is one of the biggest bands in rock history and their concerts are fun, loud, and memorable.
